An 18-year-old girl has been awarded £18,000 in an out-of-court settlement after her dentist failed to diagnose and treat an infection in her tooth.
As a result, Kimberley Wilson, from Nuneaton, needed hospital treatment and has been left with scarring and redness on her neck.
She also had to undergo scar revision surgery last year.
The Coventry Telegraph reports that Kimberley sued Dr Syed Ahad, who was working for Camphill Dental Practice, after his treatment left her with permanent damage.

She first visited Dr Ahad in October 2009, when he filled a tooth. But as there was an infection that was affecting the root of the tooth, he should have carried out root canal treatment to clear it.
Her lawyer, Heather Williams from the specialist dental law firm, The Dental Law Partnership, said: "By only placing a filing on the tooth he left the infection in the root to worsen, which led to Kimberley's problems and caused her a lot of distress.
"Her face became severely swollen, she ended up in hospital and has been left with permanent and visible damage."
