Teenager Arrested Amid Online Sales Scam Inquiry

A boy of 15 has been arrested by police investigating an online scam where people have been duped into handing over electrical goods, but have not been paid.

Kent Police received numerous reports of people being left out of pocket after agreeing to sell items, including mobile phones and tablets, via local auction sites such as The Facebay.

Victims were told they would receive payment through a bank transfer before being shown a screenshot apparently proving a transfer had been authorised.

But after the items were delivered by the victims, they discovered no payments had been made.

Kent Police have received reports of the scam in the Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells area since February 5.

A 15-year-old boy, from Tonbridge, who has been arrested in connection with the scam, has been bailed until April 23 pending further inquiries.
