This is the terrifying moment a mum carrying her four-year-son accidentally walks off a platform and onto the tracks in a subway station in America.
The mum, who has been identified as 37-year-old Meera Thakar, is seen walking into the station and purposely towards the tracks while carrying her little boy.
She seems unaware of the platform edge, and walks straight off it, tumbling onto the tracks with her son in her arms.
Joe Pesaturo, a spokesman for the Greater Boston transport system, MBTA, told the Boston Herald:
"The mother explained that she had seen a train at the northbound platform and believed she could board it. She was looking straight ahead and apparently did not see the pit or the southbound tracks below. I've never seen anything like this involving a mother and a child both falling into a pit."
The mum and little boy were rescued from the tracks by two fellow commuters. One of which, only identified as Kris, told the Boston Herald that although he checked briefly if any trains were coming into the platform, his heroics were just 'instinct':
"I did nothing. All I did is jump in and pick up the kid and hand him over to somebody. When I turned, there were so many hands. I jumped back on the platform. There were plenty of people that gave me a hand."
The mum and toddler were taken to hospital to be examined, but did not appear to have suffered any injuries from their fall.
