These Memes Of The Amazing Black Hole Are Why We Don't Deserve Nice Things

The pinnacle of scientific achievement meets Twitter.

Unless you’re currently stuck inside a black hole, you’ll have no doubt heard news that scientists have unveiled a groundbreaking first image of what one actually looks like.

An international team of astronomers revealed the image in a press conference on Wednesday, captured using a global network of telescopes dubbed the “Event Horizon Telescope”.

The image shows the boundary of the monster black hole, which measures 40 kilometres across and has a mass 6.5 billion times that of the sun.

There was much mystery surrounding the unveiling, which shows a ring of fire, slightly blurry, but wildly impressive nonetheless.

However, like most things in life these days, the image provided endless fuel for the meme factory that is Twitter...
