'The Great British Bake Off' Final Boasts Only Male Competitors

Only Men Make The 'Bake Off' Final

For the first time in 'The Great British Bake Off' history, the final will be made up of only male bakers.

A record 5.5million viewers watched law student John Thwaite, medical student James Morton and company director Brendan Lynch beat Daniele Bryden – the last woman standing – in the cake-obsessed show's semi-final on Tuesday.

Judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry decided Bryden's efforts in the French patisserie challenge did not trump her male counterparts'.

Meanwhile, viewers who are dreading the end of the series next week won't have to wait long for another sweet fix as the team has just finished filming a festive special.

The judge has been filming his first solo project, to be broadcast in February: "It's about bread but I’m also cooking with bread and doing a few cakes."
