With everything from your morning run to the cute office dog now being a crucially important thing to document across every social media platform going, it's no wonder people are starting to question how you can utilise these technologies for slightly bigger milestones in your life such as say, a wedding?

In the past year we have seen GoPro cameras pinned on slightly wobbly best men, hidden in bouquets and attached to, dare I say it, rather talented videographers in the form of dogs.

Meanwhile, cakes are also having a digital moment. While some may wonder if the traditional wedding cake is dying out in favour of hipster doughnuts or a potentially heart-attack-inducing, multi-layered cake made entirely of cheese, it appears the humble marzipan covered fruitcake is having its day again. Amping it up however are ideas like projection mapping, where the cake features a show-stopping animated light projection that will likely be so memorable, you can ditch the choreographed dance routine as your evening entertainment - thank god.

The question is then, what's next? Is our obsession with gadget-filled weddings only going to increase and if so, what are the big technologies that could be shaping your special day ahead? Here are our predictions.

Virtual reality wedding videos

Ask anyone and they'll tell you they would absolutely love to relive their wedding again. While as the bride and groom you may be circulating the room saying hello to people you're not even too sure you invited, the bridesmaids and most definitely the groomsmen are guaranteed to be getting up to some real antics. After hearing their stories, you really need to see it to believe it.

Problem solved - our prediction is that virtual reality wedding videos are going to be huge in the next couple of years and they are guaranteed to capture so many more details of your wedding than normal, even the bits you're not sure you really wanted to see. Did Great Aunt Sarah seriously just kiss your best friend? Was Grandad actually asleep for the whole reception? Naturally it will of course capture some of the truly lovely parts too, your mum tearing up in the front row as she sees you walk down the aisle, everyone's reaction the moment you're declared as married, along with all the other amazing, unforgettable moments that ensue at a wedding. You'll be able to just pop on a headset and relive that 360-degree experience time and time again.

The driverless wedding car

After the confetti has been tossed, photos have been snapped and you hop in the car, it's the first time you've been alone together since becoming newlyweds. It's a time to take it all in and really revel in this truly exciting moment. So have you ever wondered how much more romantic it could be if you know, there wasn't a driver in front who is almost definitely listening? Say hello to the driverless wedding car - it could look like an old school wedding car or literally just a floating white wedding bubble that's guaranteed to get people gawping as you whizz past on your way to the reception.

If everyone from Google to Tesla is working on these concepts, it's only a matter of time before there's the perfect option for your special day.

3D printed wedding dresses

Before you've even hit the big day, you will of course be on the epic hunt for 'that' dress. Well picture this - you're on your sofa, binge-watching any wedding-related film going while scrolling through website upon website to find your perfect look when eureka! That puffy, but not too puffy, laced, but not too laced, dress has been found and then, you just print it out. Mind blown?

Fashion Student, Danit Peleg produced her entire graduate fashion collection using a 3D printer and believes the trend of 3D printed clothing is growing ever closer, explaining that some day soon customers will be able to just "download the patterns, just like music files, and print them". The best part will be witnessing people's pure confusion when you tell them where you got your dress from.

Stag parties in outer space

Finally, with long weekenders away becoming ever more de rigueur when it comes to stag (and hen) dos, it's getting increasingly hard to do something a bit different. With that in mind, there's only one thing for it to test what your chosen few friends are made of by upping it in the originality stakes - long weekend in outer space anyone?

With Richard Branson unveiling plans to create a Virgin hotel on the moon, we're pretty sure you will trump any past or future stag do with this one. Mind you, we'd recommend you start saving now, as with $250,000 the rumoured starting point purely for the flights, your stags might need a little bit of convincing. Let's just hope you'll make it back in time for the actual wedding with everyone present and correct too.
