TV bosses could launch a junior version of The Voice,despite the adult show's plunging ratings.
A children's programme has already been screened in the Netherlands, the birthplace of the talent contest which has now spread around the world.
The programme's Dutch creator, John de Mol, said: "The Voice Kids was a tremendous success in Holland. There was a big emotional reaction from the parents of the children taking part."
In an interview with Mediaguardian, he said there was a "fair chance" that the programme - aimed at eight to 14-year-olds - would be screened by the BBC.
The Voice, which has its final this weekend, drew its worst viewing figures yet when just 4.5 million viewers tuned in for the semi-finals on Saturday. It is less than half the audience which was watching in the early stages of the competition.
Mr de Mol said there were likely to be changes to the format for the future.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, he said: "We'll have a meeting with the BBC to come up with some new ideas to make the live shows more exciting.
“The role of the coaches can be bigger. In the semi-final, the coaches were just watching the talent perform. They had no influence. That’s something we should change."
