Ricky Wilson has revealed that he won’t be joining ‘The Voice’ when it makes the jump to ITV next year.

The Kaiser Chiefs frontman has now confirmed that, after three years with the BBC talent show, the forthcoming series will be his last as a coach.
Explaining his decision, Ricky said he wanted to “bow out gracefully” at the end of the upcoming series, telling The Mirror: “This is my last one anyway… I don’t think ITV would want me. They would want to have a totally new show.”

He also defended the show’s place on the BBC, adding: “I think the argument about the BBC shouldn’t be competing with ITV is nonsense because you should always be competing, as that is the only way things get better.
“Light entertainment is a huge part of people’s lives. The great British public, that is what they want on Saturday night – they don’t want to be force fed something educational, there is something so important about entertainment. It is equal to education.”
Ricky will be appearing on the new-look panel when ‘The Voice’ returns to screens next year, alongside new additions Paloma Faith and Boy George, and will.i.am, who has appeared on every series of the UK show.
The inclusion of Boy George on the panel has been quite a controversial one, given that he’s taking over from Sir Tom Jones, who hit out at the show when he discovered he was being unceremoniously axed from the judging panel.
Since re-entering the public zeitgeist as a coach on ‘The Voice’, Ricky has also landed a presenting role on the Sky music show, ‘Bring The Noise’, alongside former ‘X Factor’ judge Nicole Scherzinger.
