The sweetest moment of any wedding ceremony? That first kiss between bride and groom.
However, when Alexis Tyler and Tomy Szczypiorksi decided to tie the knot, they were anything but conventional about the smooch part. Standing at the alter, the two were pronounced man and wife and then launched into a bizarre handshaking ritual. Although, don't worry fans of tradition - it did end in a kiss.
Far from being a publicity stunt, the couple revealed the important history behind their wedding-day move.
Talking to the Huffington Post, Tomy said Alexis is the only girl to have met his extended family in Poland. "I always told myself it wasn't until I met 'the one' that I would bring that person to Poland to introduce her to our family roots," he explained.
During their time in Eastern European country, the couple were taught the ritual by one of Tomy's daughter's relatives, which is popular among Polish children. "This simple handshake was a great way to remember such a special time in our lives," recalled Tomy.
Since then, Tomy and Alexis have been adding actions to their handshakes to remember important times from their international trips together.
"We knew that we would have to add a step for our wedding day and what better way to end our new handshake than with a kiss!" explained Tomy.
