Women from across the globe joined for Womankind Worldwide's Three Butterflies second annual lunch event at The Savoy Hotel, London, last Friday.
The organisation works in Africa, Asia and Latin America to help women transform their lives and their communities.
Jackie Ballard, Chief Executive of Womankind Worldwide said:
"Our work is about bringing women together to create lasting change. Giving women the support and freedom to speak and to be heard is a vital step towards equality.
"Through the Three Butterflies Lunch we aim to share the challenges and successes of our partners, in Africa, Asia and Latin America, with influential women in the UK and inspire them to act.
"We are immensely proud that such a talented group of women from politics, the law, business, the media and creative industries have supported our work through the Three Butterflies Lunch this year."
Womankind welcomed guests including descendants of suffragettes Emmeline and Sylvia Pankhurst (Helen and Anna Pankhurst) and Lynne Featherstone MP.
Entertainment was provided by singing group Four Femmes on the Thames and comedian Andi Osho, before compere Jan Raven introduced Germaine Greer's keynote speech.
Professor Greer commented on international threats to women's rights, before touching on inequalities closer to home.
The 'Three Butterflies' lunch was named after the Mirabal sisters, who were murdered in 1960 after bravely speaking out against the Dominican Republic's oppressive regime. The butterfly image and three sisters -- Minerva, Maria Teresa and Patria -- have become symbols of courage, dignity and strength for women worldwide.
