Three men have been arrested in central London on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism. The suspects, aged 21, 24 and 25, are currently in custody, Scotland Yard said.

Two of the five men who were arrested under the Terrorism Act last week have today been released from custody, the Yard added.

A search has taken place at a business address in west London and there are ongoing searches at a further four residential addresses in north west London, police added.

The other three suspects arrested last week remain in custody after a warrant of further detention was granted at a magistrates' court.

Police arrested the five men after a series of dawn raids in central and west London on Tuesday morning, with counter-terror officers saying they had disrupted what was believed to be the early stages of what could have turned into a ''significant plot''.

Tarik Hassane, who lives in North Kensington, and Rawan Kheder, who lives in Chelsea, have been named locally as two of the men arrested last Tuesday.
