PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Tina Fey is hoping that Alec Baldwin will stay on 30 Rock.
The US actor's contract is said to be ending in 2012, which could spell an end to his award-winning turn as TV executive Jack Donaghy in the comedy series.
"You know, we're going to keep talking to him. I think he's a person who talks sometimes and changes his mind, like any person, but we are going to keep talking to him," she told Deadline.
The show - now in its sixth season - is currently on a break until January 2012, because of Fey's real-life pregnancy, and she hopes this hiatus will allow people to forget about co-star Tracy Morgan's seemingly homophobic controversy.
"Because of my real-life pregnancy, we don't go back on the air until January. I'm hoping that Tracy will have, and the world will have, forgotten about that by them," she continued.
"He from the first has gone around very sincerely and done his best to try to make up for the foolishness."
