A toddler has died after falling from a building in north London.
Police were called to reports of a child “falling from a height” in Tottenham on Thursday morning, Metropolitan Police said.
Officers – who were joined at the scene by the ambulance service, fire brigade and London’s Air Ambulance – found a baby boy in a “critical condition”.
The toddler – thought to be around 18-months-old – was taken to a hospital in north London where he was pronounced dead at 11.39am.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, police said. A cordon remains around the scene, but officers have not specified which building the boy fell from.
However, Haringey Council have confirmed that the building is managed by Homes for Haringey.
In a statement, the council’s chief executive Zina Etheridge said: “Our deepest sympathies are with the family at this time.
“We can confirm that the block is managed by Homes for Haringey, who are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances.”
She added: “The police are currently investigating and it would be inappropriate for us to comment further, or speculate, until more is known about this very sad incident.”
