A trip to Morrisons turned into something of an adventure for one-year-old Madeline Siddall - she ended up being cut out of the shopping trolley her granny had been pushing her around in!

Madeline had been in the supermarket with her grandparents Arnie, 68, and Yvonne, 45, when her foot became trapped in the seat of the trolley.

Fire crew where called to the store in Reddish Road, Reddish, Greater Manchester, and cut the screaming baby free with bolt croppers.

Her relieved grandad told the Manchester Evening News:

"Madeline was sat in the trolley and my wife tried to lift her out but her leg was trapped between the seat and the backrest. It could happen to any child but it's not the kind of thing you expect to happen on a shopping trip - it just goes to show danger can lurk everywhere.

"Madeline normally likes going to the supermarket but she got very frightened and wouldn't even let me help her. The firefighters and store staff were very good."

Madeline's mum Victoria, 21, found out about the drama when she phoned her mum only to be told they were waiting for the fire brigade!

"She said they were waiting for the fire brigade as Madeline had got her foot stuck - I thought 'oh my God'", Victoria said. "She was screaming when I arrived, normally she is happy-go-lucky and always laughing. I'm sure she'll be fine but the test will be when I next take her to the supermarket."

Little Madeline escaped the incident with just a bruised ankle!

How scary must this have been for all concerned! Have you ever had a toddler-related drama like this?
