Toddlewood

The pics are instantly recognisable - Tom Cruise's cringe-inducing leaping on Oprah's sofa as he professed his love for Katie Holmes, Billie Holiday at a mic with flowers in her hair, President Obama, hand on heart standing in front of a star spangled banner.

But the pics are not entirely what they seem, because the subjects are actually tiny tots recreating well-known poses of the rich and famous.

Youngsters from three to six have posed for photographer Tricia Messeroux's 'Toddlewood' project which takes famous images and replaces the stars with infant models.

Ms Messeroux, 39, said that the project - which she started in 2008 as a way to include her daughter in her photography - has "grown into something bigger than expected".

Her collection of over 50 shots covers kids in scenes from record sleeves, news events and Hollywood movies.

Ms Messeroux has even included a pic of two little girls acting out Ellen DeGeneres's gay marriage ceremony.

"I make sure that every one of the images I shoot are always rated G - I never go risqué. I never put kids in a position I wouldn't want my daughter in," Ms Messeroux said. "They're playing dress up - they have a lot of fun."

Money raised from the photos helps support St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, based in Memphis, Tennessee.
