Actor Tom Hardy secretly enjoyed Jonathan Ross' plot to embarrass him with footage from his modelling days during a recent interview, because it put the presenter in the "awkward seat" for a change.
The Inception star - well known for his tough movie roles - showed off his good looks in the 1990s when he won a modelling competition on a breakfast show before embarking on a film career.
Tom was reportedly annoyed with the chat show host for showing a clip of him striking a pose during a recording of The Jonathan Ross Show.
A source said: "Tom really wasn't happy about the footage being shown and said he looked like a total idiot. After that moment, the interview was a squirm-fest."
However, the TV star dismissed the reports, and told fans Tom was simply pretending to be angry for the cameras - and now the actor himself has backed Jonathan up.
He tells The Sun: "I heard that someone thinks I was really genuinely upset with Jonathan Ross. Not at all.
"It was funny as hell and embarrassing yes, but I was in on the gag and winding Jonathan up to put him in an awkward seat for a laugh."
An audience member claimed Tom clammed up during the chat and wouldn't answer questions about the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, but the actor insists: "No one on the Batman unit can utter a word about the film. Me and Jonny were messing around. I'm sorry if people got the wrong impression and feel that I was an a**hole.
"If people want a good laugh at me desperately trying to get up the ladder, tell 'em to watch (movie) Minotaur. That's a pile of s**t."
We might just do that Tom!
