There seems to be a trend towards bleak, violent trailers in video games. First it was Hitman fighting PVC nuns, now it's the turn of Lara Croft.
Square Enix has released a brand new trailer for the Tomb Raider reboot set to hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on March 5, 2013.
It's an intriguing and dramatic look at the game, which takes the Lara Croft story back to the very beginning and explains how she became the twin-gun toting Indiana Jones-In-Hotpants the world has come to know and love.
But it's also pretty brutal. The trailer starts with Lara tied upside down in a bloody rag before falling to earth and impaling herself on a bone. Later scenes of torture, sexual assault and close-quarters death all feature - and that's before the dogs turn up.
Whatever your taste for the darker side of video games, though, it certainly looks like an interesting reboot, and we'll be looking out for lots more news at E3 next week.
