The Tallest Tower: Building The Shard – Channel 4, 9pm

Towering over the capital at over 1,000ft is The Shard. It’s not only the tallest Londoner, but since December 2011 has been the tallest European.

The pyramid-shaped skyscraper was designed by Renzo Piano, an architect best known for the Pompidou Centre in Paris.

The documentary tracks the skyscraper’s development over a 4-year period and explores the challenges of building in the centre of such a heavily populated city.

The Killing – Channel 4, 10pm

The US version of the Danish crime drama is back with its second series. It picks up where it left off which, if you’ll remember, was largely confusing.

Detective Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) has decided not to move to California, preferring to stay put and continue investigating the teen’s murder.

The series has come under criticism in the past for not living up to its Danish counterpart’s legacy. Let’s see if this series fares any better...

Antiques Uncovered – BBC2, 8pm

The first in this new series follows historian Dr Lucy Worsley and collectibles expert Mark Hill, as they examine antiques from the world of entertainment.

The pair look at dolls’ houses, explore the history of the sofa and teach us a thing or two about porcelain.

The British Soap Awards 2012 – ITV1, 8pm

The ceremony took place on Sunday evening, but the awards are aired tonight at 8pm.

Any soap fans will no doubt already know the winners, but we won’t spoil it for those who have chosen not to look ahead of tonight’s show. Of course, for any of you who do want to know, check them out here.
