It's a strong week for live music in the last few days of October- that's for sure. It's always a good sign when you're scrolling through listings and every day has an entry that makes you stop and go "ooooh..." before scrambling to check your diary.

Monday 28th October
Take a small detour from the capital's bustling Regent Street and you'll find one of the liveliest little venues in all of London town. The Social does exactly what it says on the tin- it provides a haven of beautiful booze and marvellous music to enjoy with friends while the world continues to be mad outside. Next Monday, Symptomatic Presents the fresh new talent of Nia, a singer-songwriter who made quite an impression on our Westfield audience last weekend. While so many traverse the gigging circuit with an acoustic guitar and a list of classic influences, this Welsh-born lass stands apart as something truly different. Putting her own spin on bluesy folk, the rich authenticity to her charismatic vocal makes her a performer you really can't ignore...
Tuesday 29th October
We LOVE Robbie Boyd. In fact, he's one of those artists that are almost impossible to dislike; what with every single one of his tunes having the ability to make you want to skip through a meadow of daisies. It's crazy to think it was only last year that we first unearthed this fantastic talent, when he made a number of appearances in the Olympic Park throughout London 2012. Why crazy? Well, he's already toured with The Feeling and McFly, made two appearances on ITV's This Morning, enjoyed several plays on national radio and has even performed on the roof of the O2 Arena. So with all that in mind, it really is crazy to think that there's anyone in the whole of Britain that hasn't heard of this guy, don't you think? Next Tuesday sees the loveable 'funky folk' fiend stop off at London's iconic Jazz Café for a headline show at the midway point of his UK Tour. Defo worth getting to if you can...
Wednesday 30th October
It feels a bit wrong giving this listing a single entry on this week's Top Five; because this one's a show and a half, ladies and gentlemen. Next Wednesday, one of the hottest bands in the whole goddamn new music scene- Wolf Alice- are coming to Camden. But that ain't even the best bit. What we're really buzzing about is the fact that alt rock stunners Burning Beaches have gone and landed a support slot with them. It's going to be an incredible opportunity for the local lads to really show what they're made of- and that's predominantly epic guitars, filthy beats and high energy rock n' roll. Having already made the Emerging Icons Absolute Radio shortlist last Sunday, you can take our word that this night out is going to be one to remember...
Thursday 31st October
While this date is traditionally the time of year that all things ghoulish and gruesome come out to play, we reckon you should sack all that off in favour of something bright, colourful and knock-out fabulous. Mila Falls is 100%, head to toe, 'pop star'. Talented, stylish and oozing with mainstream potential, she takes to the stage at Norwich's Epic- quite clearly a venue with a name that gives you a handy heads up on what kind of performance lies within. This lady has already toured with Ringo Starr, performed at the World Cup and played VIP shows for David Beckham and Gordon Ramsay (not to mention our Westfield stage) so she's certainly destined for brilliant things with her infectiously edgy electro pop. She's like a a mini multi-coloured Jessie J. Our advice? Get down to this show before you have to stump up the cash for the arena tours she'll no doubt be headlining in the near future...
Friday 1st November
Scotland: you lucky, lucky b*stards. Next week is positively awash with headlining dates from one of our new favourite bands- and if you don't grab your chance to see them, then we're afraid we might not be able to look at you in the same way again. Prides are, quite simply, a class act. The Glaswegian trio have been causing quite a ruckus on the new music scene for a wee while now; with their stunningly anthemic alt pop rocking the worlds of everyone from BBC Radio 1's DJs to the crowds of Reading and Leeds Fests. With an arsenal of sure-fire hits and an Island Records deal under their belt, their inevitable takeover of everyone's playlists certainly ain't 'Out Of The Blue'. HA! Ahh, that's a keeper. (Oh, we should also mention that any non-Scottish folk need not be upset about geography getting in the way of seeing Prides live, cos they've also got November dates supporting Sir Sly in Manchester and London. Boom.)
