Yep, the time has come again for the top toys of 2019 – those games and gizmos set to plague your kids’ wishlists for the rest of the year. Argos has revealed the new play sets, cuddly animals and puzzles predicted to go big before Christmas – seeing as the big day is now only 201 days away.
Yeah, sorry to be the ones to break it to you.
And because, according to the retailer, the toys on this year’s list take inspiration from some of the biggest TV, movie and even gaming franchises, your kids are probably going to go bonkers for them.
Fortnite fans can snap up the Fortnite Battle Bus to recreate their own Battle Royale using the character figurines included, while Muggles may prefer the Harry Potter Night Bus, as featured in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – only now ready to build in Lego.

There are other faces you’ll recognise on the list, too – from the Paw Patrol Mighty Pups Super Paw Jet to the Peppa Pig Playset, an interactive theatre featuring the famous pig – for kids to create their own Peppa stories.
Meanwhile, llamas are set to usurp unicorns as the top animal trend in toys with Boppi ‘The Booty Shakin’ Llama’ sure to charm kids and adults alike.
Juliet Ward, head of toy buying at Argos, said: “It’s no secret that children love animals and so they continue to heavily influence toy innovations, such as the Cubby Bear and Owleez.
“There are also some really quirky innovations on the list this year, such as the collectable Blume Dolls, which magically sprout out of their flower pots when sprinkled with water.”
The top toys of 2019 will be available to buy at Argos from Saturday 27 July. In the meantime, get clued up on what your kids will be asking for this year.
7” Real Walking Buzz Lightyear, £35
This animated toy has lights, sound and movements all based on Toy Story’s spaceman. And of course, he delivers all your fave Buzz catchphrases, too.
Furreal Cubby Bear, £80
Slightly on the pricer side of the scale, but this animatronic toy is said to help kids sleep at night, by falling asleep itself to a range of music and white noise. Switched out of nightime mode, and it has more than 100 interactions and responds to touch, voice and motion for when they are wide awake.
Blume Doll, £10
These well-coiffed collectable dolls start off life in flower pots and only “sprout” when you add water to them. After this, kids can open the pot to make a play set for the dolls and its accessories.
Fisher Price Imaginext Transforming Batmobile, £100
This is basically a remote-control version of Batman’s iconic ride. It moves both forward and backwards, but when you press a button on the controller it also opens up into a fully loaded super vehicle.
Fortnite Battle Bus, £40
If your child is a Fortnite fan, this may end up on their wish list. It’s a toy replica of the Battle Bus from the video game, and includes figurines.
Kindi Kids Toddler Doll, £25
These collectable dolls have four versions, and the way the heads bobbles around is kind of cute.
LEGO Harry Potter Night Bus, £35
Could be quite time-consuming, this one. A Lego model of the magical bus featured in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Do you have the patience to build it? Because let’s be honest you’ll be the one who ends up doing it.
LOL Surprise 2-in-1 Glamper, £100
LOL Surprise! were the dolls of 2018 – and this is the first ever vehicle for the gang. The front pulls out to become a separate car while the back opens up for the full glam experience with a water slide, pool, fashion runway, bunk beds, and more. Can we have a grown up one?
Peppa Pig Playset, £40
This is essentially a customisable stage with sounds featuring the famous pig, Peppa. You change the backdrop and accessories, so your kids can put on their own Peppa play. Best get rehearsing your lines, Mummy and Daddy Pig.
Pets Alive Robotic Llama – Boppi, ‘The Booty Shakin’ Llama, £25
The llama swishes its neck round in time to music and vigorously shakes its behind to three, pre-set catchy songs and YouTube videos. What else could you want? Don’t answer that.
Paw Patrol Mighty Pups Super Paw Jet, £60
Inspired by the insanely popular TV show, the supersonic jet is a new toy taken from the small screen and brought into real life for kids to play with.
Owleez, £50
This is an interactive pet you can rescue, take care of and even teach to fly. It has large glowing eyes that change colour depending on Owleez’ mood and is motion sensitive.
