This week my training has successfully focused on getting everything ready for my upcoming fight. Each week covers many different MMA techniques and general fitness work; this is what I've covered over the last 7 days.
Everyday has been busy as I concentrated on different aspects of my training. On Monday morning I mainly worked on wrestling and grappling then later on I switched to Thai sparring followed by working with Thai pads.
On Tuesday I took a day out of my training to go to London. There I worked with the London Irish Rugby Club for the day where the emphasis was on strength and conditioning. This involved pushing weighted sleds around circuits for four sets of six; it was an absolute killer! After I'd tried out their workout we then showed them a few MMA moves and took them on the pads. It was a really good day out and away from normal daily training.
On Wednesday I wrestled again in the morning and tried out some cage work. Later that night I did some box sparring followed by the pads. My training stepped up on Thursday with MMA sparring followed by drills and a circuit.
Friday focused on grappling then on what to do when a partner has you in a bad position. This could be when you're mounted, or when he's got your back and you need to get out. In the evening I did Thai pads again then had a bit of time off and spent it going out for a Nandos with my mates.
On Saturday morning I did lots of rounds of rolling followed by some technique training.
With that my training week is pretty much over.
I'll be competing at UFC: Struve vs. Miocic on 29 September at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham on 29th September. To buy tickets to come and watch a great night of MMA, visit www.UFC.com
