A row has broken out over the new UK passport design, which claims to represent "some of the best achievements of the last 500 years in Great Britain and Northern Ireland" but features just two women.

The pages of the travel document are supposed to celebrate creative Britons. Men featured include William Shakespeare, artist John Constable and sculptor Anish Kapoor.

The only women to feature are mathematician and writer Ada Lovelace and architect Elisabeth Scott.
