Sun-seekers across England are in for a treat this weekend as temperatures on Bank Holiday Monday look set to break records.
Monday will bring mostly dry with very warm or hot sunshine, according to weather forecasters at the Met Office. Highs of 26c are expected in London, with 23c expected in Essex, the south west and south coast.
Sunday night will remain dry and clear - perfect weather for barbecues with a sunset around 8.30pm for most parts.
However it’s not good news for everyone. Scotland and Northern Ireland initially look cloudier on Monday, with patchy rain and some Irish Sea coastal mist too.
High UV counts from strong sunshine have prompted warnings for people spending lots of time outside to apply sun protection.
And high pollen readings across Britain threaten to make things miserable for hayfever sufferers.
Beyond the weekend, the Met Office says southern and eastern areas will keep up the sunshine and mid to high temperatures, with 25c in London on Tuesday.
But some wet and locally windy weather will affect the north and west, where it will generally turn fresher into the week.
Enjoy the weather while it lasts as, according to current forecasts, the following weekend will look rather different to this bank holiday.
Temperatures will reach a high of 14c in the south east on Saturday 12th, with the threat of showers in parts.
