ITV and the BBC are set to go to war for ratings, as the former have announced that their hotly-anticipated drama ‘Victoria’ will be screened on Sunday nights.
The Jenna Coleman-led production will begin airing on Sunday 28 August, making it a direct rival for ‘Poldark’, which will return for its second series a week later, on Sunday 4 September.
ITV certainly have high hopes for the show, which they’ve reportedly spent almost £10 million on, but can it topple the mighty ‘Poldark’?
The adaptation, starring Aidan Turner, was a hit hit with TV viewers last year, and its dashing leading man also won plenty of fans.
Earlier this month, a first look trailer for the series was revealed and bosses have already revealed some plot details, which differ to both the books and previous TV adaptation.
It’s not just ‘Victoria’ that the Cornwall-set drama will be clashing with, as according to reports, the final two episodes of the series will go up against ‘X Factor’.
