Waitrose is recalling four types of its own-brand chocolate over fears they could be contaminated with plastic.
The upmarket retailer announced the recall on Wednesday, with the Food Standards Agency saying the move was a precaution after the potential for contamination was discovered.
The agency said: “If you have bought any of the above products do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
Waitrose apologised to affected customers and said it would offer full reimbursement.

Waitrose said: “We are recalling the above products as there is the potential that a small number of bars may be contaminated with pieces of plastic.
“During a production run some pieces of a plastic mould broke off. Although we believe only a small amount of the production run was affected we are asking customers with any of the batch to return it for a refund.
“We’re very sorry to our customers for this.”
