A woman has been injured in an explosion which damaged her home "extensively".
Police said the elderly householder was being treated at the scene of the blast in Warrington, Cheshire, but her injuries were not believed to be serious.
Emergency services were called to the address in Cinnamon Lane, Fearnhead, shortly after 7.10am today. A Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "As a result of the explosion, the house has been extensively damaged and an assessment as to its safety is ongoing.
"The occupant of the house, an elderly woman, suffered injuries which are being treated at the scene by ambulance. At this stage they are not believed serious. There were no other casualties.
"The cause of the explosion is not yet known but gas engineers are at the scene."
Homes on either side of the woman's house have been evacuated as a precaution and road closures are in place in the surrounding area.
Police said the 92-year-old woman is being treated at Warrington General Hospital for a minor hand injury.
Her condition is described as stable.
A police spokeswoman said there were reports of a strong smell of gas and that the explosion was not being treated as suspicious.
She added: "Police and fire personnel are now concluding their work at the scene. Warrington Borough Council will continue to work with a structural engineer to assess the overall damage to the house."
Nearby roads were later reopened.
