This week HuffPost UK Lifestyle have been fascinated by the story of New Zealander Natasha Harris, who had a fatal heart attack due to her habit of drinking up to 10 litres of Coca-Cola each day.

Coroner David Crerar said Harris's addiction to Coca-Cola had given rise to cardiac arrhythmia.

He calculated that the amount of Coca-Cola Harris was drinking was equivalent to 970mg of caffeine and more than 1kg of sugar a day.

With this in mind HuffPost UK Lifestyle wanted to focus our 'weekly wellbeing' segment on caffeine consumption and heart health.

We spoke to Evelyn Toner, specialist dietitian at London Bridge Hospital, who explained the dangers of consuming too much caffeine.

"Too much caffeine can make you restless, anxious and irritable. It can impair sleep quality, and excessive quantities may lead to headaches, a fast heart rate, nausea and tremors," she explained. "If consumed in large amounts regularly, caffeine may decrease bone mass density, thus increasing the risk of osteoporosis."

She added: "Caffeine intake should be reduced gradually, as sudden avoidance may cause withdrawal symptoms such as drowsiness, headaches, irritability, nausea, vomiting."

But there are plenty of ways to use your diet to keep your heart healthy, as HuffPost Healthy Living pointed out this week.

Here's a list of foods that could be bad for your heart. Can you think of any more? Let us know in the comments below.
