Wet Wet Wet Criticise Madonna's Concert Prices

Wet Wet Wet Slam Madonna's 'Lip-Synching For £140'

Pop rockers Wet Wet Wet have taken aim at Madonna for her high concert prices, insisting £140 is too expensive for a ticket.

The Love Is All Around hitmakers are staging their live comeback with a gig in their native Scotland on 20 July, a day before Madonna headlines the country's Murrayfield Stadium.

Tickets for the Holiday hitmaker's show range in price from £50 to £137, while Wet Wet Wet's concert will cost fans just £36 - and the group is adamant their gig is better value for money.

Singer/bassist Graeme Clark tells Scotland's Daily Record: "We worked with the promoters to keep the ticket price down. When I saw that Madonna was £140, that's expensive for a show.

"I go to these (big stadium) gigs and think, 'Is that Madonna?' She's tiny in the distance. It's a big routine and Madonna is a fabulous artist. But lip-synching for £140, I'm not sure about."

Madonna has previously defended her high prices, insisting she's worth every penny.

She said: "Start saving your pennies now. People spend $300 on crazy things all the time, things like handbags. So work all year, scrape the money together, and come to my show. I'm worth it."
