New parents could save £275 by not buying unnecessary baby gear.
That's the claim from Which? following its survey of new mums and dads and their baby gear buying habits.
Researchers asked 2,005 parents with children under five which products they bought were useful, and which weren't - excluding the core products of pushchairs, car seats, high chairs and cots/cot beds.
The most useful product overall was a stair gate, closely followed by a changing bag and audio baby monitor.
A baby door bouncer was voted the least useful product, with baby washing bowls a close second. Which? estimates new parents could save £275 if they stripped back their new baby shopping lists, and didn't buy the items listed as least helpful.
