'Big Brother' bosses have finally confirmed the start date of the new series.

The 17th run of the Channel 5 reality show will kick off on Tuesday 7 June from 9pm.

The return of 'Big Brother' will be followed by Rylan Clark-Neal's spin-off show 'Bit On The Side', and then an hour of action live from the house.

It had originally been thought that the new series of 'Big Brother' would begin towards the end of June to give host Emma Willis time to recuperate, following the birth of her third child, who she welcomed with husband Matt earlier this month.

'BB' fans have already had a glimpse of this year's eye, which is sporting a monochrome theme with multicoloured shard, as well as a new advert, which teased that "the game is changing".

A massive extension to the show's compound at Elstree studios in Hertfordshire and also been carried out, which has sparked rumours there could be two houses this year.

A 'BB' spokesperson recently hinted that things were being dramatically shaken up for the new series, teasing: “From day one, the housemates will be under attack from an unseen ominous dark force that will have a dramatic and divisive effect on the house. Whilst things may appear to be straightforward Big Brother will ensure that no-one will have the entire picture. There may even be deeper connections at work?

“The housemates are not alone and they should be prepared for paranoia and suspicion.”
