Emily Middlemas has narrowly missed out on a place in the ‘X Factor’ final, after becoming the latest act to leave the competition.
The singer failed to make it through to next week’s series finale, after landing in the bottom two during Sunday (4 December) night’s tense results show.
Emily was voted off by the judges, after a sing off with Matt Terry, following Saturday’s Christmas-themed semi-final.
Emily had sung a rendition off ‘Wings’ by Birdy in the hope of securing a place in the final three, while Matt took on Christina Aguilera’s ‘Hurt’.
As the vote went to the judges, Simon Cowell backed his own act, as did Nicole Scherzinger, while Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh also voted to send Emily home.
Speaking after her exit, Emily said: “I’m so proud of myself to get through to the semi final.
“This year has been amazing and I’ve been so lucky to have been a part of it.”
Emily’s depature leaves Matt to battle it out with Saara Aalto and 5 After Midnight to become the winner of ‘The X Factor’ 2016.
The final will be held in front of an audience of thousands at The SSE Arena in Wembley next Saturday and Sunday.
One act will leave the competition on Saturday night, with the winner crowned during Sunday’s show.
‘The X Factor’ continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
