We've all heard the phrase "breast is best" but we're convinced some people are taking it a bit too literally. Specifically, the adult males ordering women's breast milk off the internet and knocking it back before hitting the gym.
While you may find it difficult to believe these men actually exist, one look at users' comments on Simplythebreast.com will convince you otherwise.
Although the site's call to action is "want to donate breast milk to a fellow mother?" it seems a large part of its business actually comes from grown men seeking vendors.
And that's fine, according to its co-founder Glenn Snow who said while his site focuses on mothers, they "do not mind men seeking milk for health or wellness needs."
So far, so creepy. Who exactly are these guys buying breastmilk from faceless women on the internet?
Anthony - an athlete from Queens in New York - explained to The Cut: "It gives me incredible energy I don't get from other food and drinks." He added it costs $2.50 per fluid ounce - a price he's more than willing to pay to feel like Popeye.
"I always compensate the women I buy from," he said. "And pretty nicely, too. I don't believe in steroids or other energy supplements, none of that garbage."
He continued: "I want natural stuff that's God-given, and if it's okay with moms looking to get rid of it, I'll take it."
Regardless of customer motivation and potential profit, most breast-milk banks reserve their milk for babies in need and the sale of bodily fluids is banned on mainstream sites like eBay and Craigslist.
