The modelling industry is a tricky business and while there's a whole lot of glamour that comes with the job, it also has its issues.
The Daily Beast has published an anonymous letter from a model who has disclosed the questionable elements of a contract where employees are "supposed to have dinner with clients" with breakfast being "optional".
The author of the article confesses that: "A lot of girls become models because there is the alluring, if distant, promise of first-class, all-designer everything. I would be lying if I said those thoughts didn't occur to me when I signed up for the job."
"Yes, working as a model can be very exploitive. But aren't unpaid internships exploiting young talent as well?"
The perks of the job are highlighted: travel, luxury, handbags etc and for this model in particular it's the "opportunity" that keeps her moonlighting as an escort.
"Why do I model if the industry can be skeezy and gross at times? Because I don't see modelling as a way to boost self-esteem or prove something to myself - I see modelling as an opportunity to see the world, and nothing more than that."
