A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in a suspected hit and run incident in an upmarket suburb.
A member of the public found the body of the young man in the Clifton area of Bristol yesterday morning.
The discovery was made in Gordon Road, near to the Richmond pub at 6.45am.
Avon and Somerset Police had appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward and today revealed that a 39-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Officers believe the incident occurred between 4.30am and 5.30am.
Detective Superintendent Carolyn Belafonte said: "We have a team of officers and staff working on this and despite an arrest being made this is still an active and ongoing inquiry.
"A post-mortem examination is due to take place later today to establish the cause of the man's death and following this a formal identification procedure will take place.
"I'm really grateful for all the support we've been already given by the public but we still need people to call in with any information they have."
Police later revealed that a 29-year-old man from Bristol has also been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
