The Carolina Reaper pepper clocks in at 1.5 million scoville heat units, more than 100 times hotter than a jalapeno, ABC News reports.
In 2014, Bon Appetite writer Matt Gross explained that while it took him a mere 21 seconds to eat three Carolina Reaper peppers, it also took him 14 hours to recover from it.
