A man claiming to have collected the world's biggest privately-owned video games archive has sold his life's work for $750,000.
Michael Thomasson's collection totalled more than 11,000 games, and was enough to earn him an official citation by the Guinness World Records authorities.
The collection was housed in an enormous basement room and was - frankly - ludicrous. Take a look below.
Well now Thomasson has to find a way to ship it all to an anonymous buyer, who better have a fairly sizeable room of their own in which to place the boxes and boxes of ropey old Xbox games.
The bidding history of the auction shows that the lot only broke through $10,000 on 10th June, but that it quickly spiralled upwards. Two bidders -- peeps_10091970 and catch123 -- were the two left in battle by the end, which levelled out at $750,250.
The collection itself contains complete sets of every game released for:
3DO, Action Max, AGP X-System, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, Atari Jaguar CD, Atari Lynx, Buzztime, Captain Power, Game Boy Advance e-Reader, Neo-Geo Pocket Color, Nintendo Virtual Boy, NUON, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Tapwave Zodiac, Tiger Game.Com, Turbo-Grafx-16 CD and Turbo-Grafx-16 Super CD.

The man selling it said he was doing it for his "immediate and extended family".
"I simply have an immediate family and extended family that have needs that need to be addressed. While I do not wish to part with these games, I have responsibilities that I have made to others and this action is how I will help meet them. No worries, I’ve sold my collection many times in the past and still managed to capture Guinness’ attention, and it is entirely possible that I may again."
