An ‘X Factor’ spokesperson has confirmed the news to HuffPost UK, stating: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we are having to cancel Tuesday 14th July’s 'X Factor' auditions in London.”
Mirror Online first revealed the news, reporting that fans who had booked tickets via Applause Store had been notified of the cancellation via email.
According to the paper, the email read: “We are so sorry but it has just been confirmed to us that both recordings of The X Factor Auditions in London on TUESDAY 14th JULY have been cancelled due to a bereavement. The rest of the Auditions are still going ahead.”
This year’s tryouts began 24 hours later than planned on Wednesday, after it was announced that Simon’s mother Julie died on Sunday, at the age of 89.
Hopefuls giving the auditions their best shot on Thursday were performing to an incomplete panel, as Rita Ora had commitments elsewhere, at Paris Fashion Week.
Nevertheless, the show must go on, and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Simon and newbie Nick Grimshaw were all in place to put 2015’s crop of budding stars through their paces.
