‘The X Factor’ 2014 could have a brand new name to add to its already confirmed judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole as Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie is reportedly in talks with producers to be a judge on the show.
Cheryl Cole confirmed last week that she’d be returning to the show following a three year absence after being begged to come back by Simon Cowell, and later said she’d like to see a “strong female” join her on the panel, a criteria which it’s fair to say that Fergie fits perfectly.

The two singers also have an important mutual friend in Fergie’s Black Eyed Peas bandmate will.i.am, who has helped Cheryl at the ‘judges’ houses’ stage of the competition in the past as well as appearing on all three of her solo albums.
A source told The Mirror: “It’s not a done deal just yet but things have been positive. Both sides are keen to move things forward and people at the show and ITV are excited at the prospect of having Fergie.
“She brings a lot to the show and her success globally with The Black Eyed Peas and her solo albums obviously speaks for itself. On top of that, she looks fantastic and fans love the glamour of the live shows.”
Other names to have been linked with a spot as a judge on this year’s series include Redfoo of the band LMFAO, who is a judge on the Australian version of the show, and Olly Murs, who finished in second place on the show back in 2009 and went on to co-host spinoff show ‘The Xtra Factor’ for two series alongside Caroline Flack.
Louis Walsh - who has been a judge on every series of ‘The X Factor’ since it began in in 2004 - has also said he is confident he’ll be returning to the show, despite reports in the media that Cheryl Cole doesn’t want him on the panel.
