'X Factor' Stars Fleur East And Andrea Faustini To Tackle Christmas Songs For Semi-Final Performances

What Christmas Tunes Are The 'X Factor' Artists Singing This Week?

We can definitely tell we’re on the run-up to Christmas now. There’s a chill in the air, we’ve already prematurely eaten all of the chocolates in our advent calendars, and the ‘X Factor’ contestants are all performing festive tracks this weekend.

For Saturday night’s semi-final, the four remaining contestants will once again be singing two songs, kicking off with a Christmas classic.

There won’t be a dry eye in the house, or a high note left unsung, when Andrea Faustini performs his version of ‘O Holy Night’, before tackling a completely different song altogether when he sings Miley Cyrus’s ‘Wrecking Ball’.

We can only hope he’s going to smash his way onto the stage naked, while riding on a giant Christmas pudding, to really hammer home the show’s Yuletide theme.

Perhaps not, eh?

Lauren Platt, who landed herself in the bottom two for the first time last weekend, will be bouncing back with a festive rendition of East 17’s ‘Stay Another Day’ (well… there was snow in the music video, wasn’t there?), before returning to the stage with One Direction’s ‘Story Of My Life’.

While we were hoping for something a bit jaunty from Ben Haenow, perhaps Paul McCartney’s ‘Wonderful Christmas Time’ or Elton John’s ‘Step Into Christmas’, but sadly we didn’t get our wish, and he’ll actually be singing The Eagles’ ‘Please Come Home For Christmas’ and Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’.

Fleur East

Luckily, Fleur East is at hand to pick up the tempo, and will be singing Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ and ‘Uptown Funk’ by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

The question is, will any of them be able to top James Arthur’s joyless rendition of ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ from 2012? We very much doubt it.
