‘X Factor’ fans got a blast from the past on Saturday (3 September), when Janet Grogan returned to the show.

The singer failed to make it through to the live shows in 2014, departing the competition when Simon Cowell opted not to put her through after everybody’s favourite round, the Six Chair Challenge.

Louis Walsh and Simon recognised Janet immediately, and she then told Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger: “I was here two years ago and I made it to Simon’s six chairs.”

“He tweeted afterwards that it was a mistake,” Janet added, as Simon admits his error. “And that tweet is why I’m here.”

Janet then smashed through a rousing rendition of Zayn Malik’s ‘Pillowtalk’, a bold move given that the ex-One Direction star doesn’t exactly have the best relationship with his former boss Simon.

Her song choice wasn’t held against her though, and Janet received four yeses, with Simon telling her: “Janet, at least I can admit my mistakes, and I was always hoping that you would come back into the audition room.

“You’ve got more confident, you’ve got a glow about you and your voice is stunning. I’m excited - you are the best we’ve had today.”
