‘Strictly Come Dancing’ won the ratings war this weekend, triumphing over ‘X Factor’ on both Friday and Saturday night.
In an unprecedented move, ‘X Factor’ bosses chose to show the ITV talent show on Friday night however, their new tactics didn’t appear to work as over 700,000 more people tuned in to watch ‘Strictly’.
The 'X Factor' judging panel
While ‘Strictly’ pulled in 6.5 million viewers on Friday, ‘X Factor’ scored its lowest ratings ever with just 5.8 million people watching Cheryl Fernandez-Versini choose who to take through to the Judges’ Houses round.
Things didn’t get any better for Simon Cowell and the ‘X Factor’ team on Saturday, when 8.1 million people tuned in to watch ‘Strictly’, while 7.7 million watched ‘X Factor’.
This week, ‘X Factor’ returns to its regular schedule, with programmes being aired on Saturday and Sunday night.
The 'Strictly' panel
To make matters worse, the ‘X Factor’ judges have also come under fire for a number of the decisions made during the Six Chair Challenge shows.
While Cheryl’s indecision angered viewers on Friday night, the show has been hit with fix allegations following Louis Walsh’s inability to pick his acts on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the show addressed the matter, stating: “Until the judge has chosen their final six they’re able to change their minds and bring back anyone they have removed.”
