An activist linked to the abuse of MPs and journalists outside parliament has been bailed following his arrest over suspected public order offences.
James Goddard, a Brexiteer campaigner who has been seen in Westminster accosting MPs, their staff, and journalists, was arrested on Saturday morning outside St James’s Park tube station.
The Metropolitan Police said the arrest was in connection with incidents which occurred on Monday. Video of the arrest was posted on social media.
The force said the man arrested was not charged and has been released on bail until early February.
Goddard was seen on Saturday evening drinking with supporters in the Queen’s Head pub next to Holborn police station.
Scotland Yard said in a statement earlier on Saturday: “We can confirm that a man in his 30s was arrested at 11.42hrs on Saturday 12 January outside St James Park tube station on suspicion of a public order offence.
“He is currently in police custody and is being taken to a central London police station.”
Goddard has used social media to broadcast his interactions with Remain-supporting MP Anna Soubry, as well as staffers and journalists, in Westminster and has been accused of intimidation.
