A man who has to give police 24 hours' notice before he has sex will appear before a court.

The single man who is in his 40s has previously been cleared of rape but was subjected to an interim Sexual Risk Order (SRO) after an application by North Yorkshire Police.

He will appear before York Magistrates' Court for a case management hearing where legal issues about the case will be discussed.

A full hearing where the police will ask for the SRO to be made permanent will take place next month.

The terms of the order include a requirement for him to inform police 24 hours before he has sex with a new partner.

Previously he admitted to having an interest in sado-masochistic sex and used to visit a Fifty Shades Of Grey-style fetish club with an ex-partner.

But the man, a father from York who cannot be identified by the media, denied having any criminal convictions.

He has previously said he will go on hunger strike in protest at the order, which he says prevents him from any prospect of a relationship.

Other conditions relating to his use of the internet and communications devices meant he cannot work either, he said.
