Zayn Malik Back With The One Direction Boys After Family Funeral

Return Of The Malik

One Direction star Zayn Malik is back in the USA after rejoining his bandmates following a family bereavement.

The singer was on the road with the boy band while they made waves across the pond on their first ever North American tour when he received the news that his aunt had passed away.

He jetted straight back to England where he attended her funeral, which meant he missed several dates on One Direction's trek with US pop act Big Time Rush.

Harry Styles wrote on his Twitter page: "Zayn has suffered a loss in his family & has had to go home for a few days so won't be at our next shows in the US... Our thoughts are with him and his family at this sad time."

But the star flew back Stateside on Tuesday night, and took to his own Twitter account to tell his buddies to be ready for his return.

He wrote: "Back in the US can't wait to see the boys hopefully they haven't missed me too much aha."

Harry seemed equally excited about the reunion - and uploaded a snap of his pal poking out his tongue along with the caption: "Like he never left."

The group has been a huge hit in America - cops were forced to close a street in Toronto last month when screaming fans descended on the studio where the boyband made their first Canadian television appearance.

Their UK arena tour was also an instant sell-out - with tickets being snapped up within minutes, leaving some desperate devotees waiting up to 40 hours in a bid to get their hands on them. They have added five extra dates in April due to high demand.

However, Zayn's rise to fame has been tainted with sadness - before losing his aunt, his beloved grandad died while he was competing with the band in The X Factor in 2010. He missed several rehearsals but returned to the stage during the live shows.
