Abigail Rayner

Mother, reluctant villager, journalist and writer of children's fiction

Abigail Rayner is the full-time handler of her two small children and four (mostly vile, but occasionally charming) cats. When she is not apologising to the local police about her toddler son's dropped 911 calls, or fishing remote controls out of the toilet, she writes stories for children and occasional articles for magazines and newspapers.

Abigail is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She is taking part in the 12 x 12 in 2012 Writing Challenge, to draft twelve picture books in twelve months (it's harder than you think!)
Prior to having children she was a New York-based reporter for The Times, and before that, the Financial Times.

Abigail lives in a speck of a village near Princeton, New Jersey with her husband and two small children.

You can read her blog about the path to publication and writing with kids climbing up her legs, “Writing on Empty” at http://www.abigailrayner.com/blog.
