Ecological statistican

Alison is an enthusiastic and dynamic Ecological Statistician at the British Trust for Ornithology. She is interested in answering ecological questions by analysing ecological data in the best and most robust way. Good statistical models can reveal patterns and mechanisms in the data which we wouldn't see otherwise. Alison has worked on issues such as prioritising conservation, protected area effectiveness, community diversity, climate change, impacts of renewable energy developments and migration. Much of her work involves analysis of citizen science data. Alison is also passionate about effectively communicating statistics and runs workshops and lectures for ecologists and biologists.

Alison lives in Cambridge and in her spare time enjoys knitting animals, sports and a wee dram of whisky.
