Chief executive of the housing and homelessness charity, Brighton Housing Trust
Andy Winter has worked for
Brighton Housing Trust since 1985, initially as a residential support worker before becoming manager of BHT’s residential alcohol and drug services, and then Chief Executive in 2003. The period since then has been characterised by clients of BHT services becoming increasingly central to the running and decision-making processes within the organisation.
Andy was born in South Africa but moved to the UK in 1979 to avoid conscription into the apartheid army. He was a councillor on the old Brighton Borough Council between 1985 and 1992. Between 1996 and 2000 he undertook original research into drug related deaths in the city. He writes a blog for BHT on social policy and the work of BHT. He has been a member of Sussex County Cricket Club for many years.
