Annie Khalid

Pakistan's pop princess

Selling over 5 million records, performing at sold out shows and the face of major brands, pop Princess Annie Khalid is the biggest female star in her native Pakistan. Now she is over here and looking to claim her throne in the UK music industry.

Launching with single ‘Boom Boom’, featuring internationally renowned dancehall artist, Beenie Man, the track maintains a distinct eastern influence while crossing over into upbeat pop tune territory. The video was shot on location in Jamaica with Beenie Man.

Annie comments: “It has been such a fun experience working with Beenie Man. He’s down to earth and has a comical side - he was making everyone laugh on set. I've loved this track ever since I heard it, and to have Beenie Man on it is the icing on the cake. I'm excited about coming to the UK and looking forward to releasing new music here. It's almost like starting all over again, reintroducing myself, and that's the most exciting part!”

Massive in her homeland, 26 year old Annie is used to performing to crowds of over 60,000 people and pulling in huge sponsorship deals with the likes of Pepsi and Lebara Mobile. She has spent the past seven years splitting her time between Pakistan and London and she has now signed a record deal to launch her career here in the UK. She has now relocated to Essex to focus on promoting the single.

Growing up, Annie listened to western artists such Britney Spears and The Spice Girls and has been hugely influenced by their work as she carved out her own successful career, but has had to be careful to not cause offence to the Muslim communities – both here and in Pakistan.

Annie will be fronting a BBC3 documentary on Muslim women in England – where she will be speaking to successful Muslim women and looking to break down the misconceptions. Filming starts in September.
