Writer, mum, womb cancer warrior
In 2014, I was diagnosed with womb cancer aged 50. Since then, and rather against my will, this disease has taken over my life. I blog about living with cancer and carrying a BRCA1 genetic mutation that caused the cancer and campaign for better awareness of womb cancer - now the fourth most common cancer affecting women. I am a community champion for Macmillan Cancer Support and a supporter of The Eve Appeal - the gynae cancer charity. Beyond cancer I am a mother, wife, journalist, knitter, baker, gardener and cat lover. All round I am very middle aged and middle class - and see nothing wrong with that.
