David Nussbaum joined WWF-UK as Chief Executive in May 2007.
Prior to joining WWF, David was the Chief Executive of Transparency International ('TI'), based at the international secretariat in Berlin. TI is the leading global NGO focused on curbing corruption, with National Chapters in around 100 countries.
David is also a Non-Executive Director of the quoted private equity fund Low Carbon Accelerator; and of the leading Fair Trade finance company Shared Interest. Until 2006, he was the (non-executive) Chair of Traidcraft, the leading UK 'Fair Trade' company.
Previously, David was the Director of Finance, Information and Planning and a Deputy Chief Executive of Oxfam, the international relief and development organisation, where he worked for about six years, including six months on secondment in charge of Oxfam's programme in India.
After qualifying as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London where he worked for five years, David went to work in venture capital with 3i plc as an Investment Controller, investing in medium-sized companies to help them grow. From there he moved into manufacturing industry with the European packaging company Field Group plc, where he was its Finance Director, through the company's management buyout and subsequent flotation on the London Stock Exchange.
David holds degrees in theology from Cambridge and Edinburgh universities and an MSc in Finance from London Business School. He was born in 1958, and he and his wife have four children.
